Police Arrest Suspect in Sunday Morning Armed Home Invasion

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Park Forest Police and the South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT) responded to a report of an armed home invasion on Sunday, March 15.

According to a press release from the Park Forest Police Department, at approximately 8:15 a.m. Sunday morning, Park Forest Police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Oak Lane to investigate a report of a home invasion in progress.

According to police, the “victim/caller,” who had run from the house, gave a description of the suspect and further advised that the alleged offender was armed with a handgun.

Responding units located a subject matching the description running from the area, and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was observed entering a residence in the 100 block of Hemlock Street, according to police. A containment perimeter was established by Park Forest officers and the SSERT was activated.

At approximately 12:05 p.m., members of the SSERT made contact with the suspect and he surrendered without incident. The Park Forest Investigations Division is following up on the incident. Charges are pending. Police say they will release more information when it is available.

There are no reports at this time of anyone being injured in this incident.
