Alert!

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Park Forest Police have issued a community alert for residents regarding a string of burglaries in the multi-family areas of town: co-ops, apartments, and condominiums.

The alert follows:

In the past 5 weeks, there have been 9 Residential Burglaries reported in the multi-family areas of Park Forest. These incidents occurred throughout the co-operative areas and Central Park Townhomes. Most of these incidents occurred on weekdays, in the morning hours, particularly late morning.

The offenders gained entry into the residences by breaking windows on the entry doors, reaching in, and unlocking the doors. Items taken include jewelry, cash, and small electronics: things which could easily be carried away by offenders on foot.

Extra police patrols are taking place within these areas. In addition, residents are encouraged to be particularly aware of people in their neighborhoods who they do not recognize, people loitering, and anyone going door-to-door. If anyone suspicious is seen, call police immediately and provide the best possible description of the suspicious person(s) and their location.

If you have any information about these burglaries, please call the Park Forest Police Department at (708) 748-4700. If you witness anyone suspicious or see what you think may be a crime in progress, always call 911.
