Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Residential Burglary on Saginaw
A residential burglary was reported on July 11 in the 0 – 100 block of Saginaw. According to the police report, unknown person(s) shattered the south side den window of the residence, gained entry through the window, and removed several items. Among the items reported taken were a silver Magnavox 36” color television with remote, a black clothe case with a silver Magnavox portable DVD player, and a silver Nokia cell phone. Other items reported missing include a black HP Pavilion Laptop computer, a black .22 caliber revolver with a white handle that had been located in a gun cabinet. Additionally, a gold necklace with a circle of diamonds, a white gold chain with diamonds, and a black Samsung Maxima 35mm camera were reported taken.
Police continue to investigate.
Reports
An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Shabbona on July 9 to investigate a report of Identity Theft. The resident reported receiving a collection notice for an outstanding balance for T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular, but the resident reported never having had a T-Mobile account. The outstanding balances total over $2,600.
A 5’ x 8’ enclosed trailer was reported stolen from the U-Haul Rental Center, 2220 Western, on July 9.
Justin L. Edwards, 18, 401 Rutledge, Park Forest, was arrested on July 11 and charged with possession of cannabis when officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Rutledge in reference to a suspicious auto call. According to the call, 5 to 6 teenagers were in a vehicle allegedly drinking alcohol and playing “vulgar rap music,” according to the report. Police found four small plastic Ziploc baggies inside a sandwich bag under the driver’s seat containing a green leafy substance which field tested positive for the presumptive presence of cannabis, according to the report.
The 7’ x 3’ metal grind box in the Forest Trail Skate Park was reported vandalized, spray-painted in red, on July 11.
The window of a storm door of a residence in the 300 block of Dogwood was reported damaged on July 12.
Anna M.F. Hofsommer, 18, 2 Cromwell, Park Forest, was arrested on July 12 and charged with domestic battery and consumption of alcohol by a minor when police were called to 2 Cromwell to investigate a report of a domestic.
Eric Betton, 20, 3244 Western, Park Forest, was arrested on July 12 and charged with criminal trespass to real property when police were dispatched to the 0 – 100 block of Indianwood in reference to suspicious person’s possibly smoking marijuana. According to the report, Betton had been notified several times by Thorn Creek Management that he is not allowed on Thorn Creek property.
Darryl D. Listenbee, 51, 5255 Imperial Drive, Richton Park, was arrested on July 13 and charged with domestic batter when police were dispatched to a house in the 200 block of Monee Rd. to investigate a report of domestic battery.
The rear window of a residence in the 100 block of Washington was reported broken on July 13.
George J. Lacy, 36, 14900 Irving, Dolton, was arrested on July 13 and charged with speeding and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and also given an M-Series citation for possession of cannabis when a detective paced the vehicle Lacy was driving westbound on Sauk Trail at Orchard allegedly traveling at 51 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.
Daniel James Jr., 39, 313 Indiana, Park Forest, was arrested on July 14 and charged with two counts of domestic battery and two counts of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence when police were called to that address to investigate a 911 Hang-Up where the dispatcher heard a possible domestic disturbance in the background, according to the report.
The driver door window of a 1990 Chevrolet Blazer was reported shattered in the parking lot of Trinity Lutheran Church, 2901 Western Ave., on July 14. The vehicle also had damage to the steering column.
Brandys M. Moore, 17, 149 Lakewood Blvd., Park Forest, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to land and resisting a peace officer when police were dispatched to Central Park, 420 Lakewood Blvd., to investigate a report of disorderly conduct.
Gerard A. Tolbert, 34, 2133 Woodhollow Lane, Hammond, IN, was arrested on July 14 and charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property when police were called to the 0 – 100 block of Leims in reference to a criminal damage to property complaint.
Eric J. Dean, 24, 124 Sauk Trail, Park Forest, was arrested on July 14 and charged with possession of cannabis, improper walking in the roadway, and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol, when police were dispatched to Peach Street north of Sauk Trail for suspicious subjects standing next to a vehicle. Donel S. Embry Jr., 32, 257 Lester, Park Forest, and Marvin C. Williams, 26, 1842 S. Euclid, Chicago Heights, were arrested and charged with improper waling in the roadway in the same incident.
Todd M. Critelli, 38, 77 Forest, Park Forest, was arrested on July 15 and charged with domestic battery when police responded to that address in reference to a domestic battery report.
Marvin M. Watkins, 19, 15516 Vine, Harvey, was arrested on July 15 and charged with criminal sexual abuse and criminal trespass to residence when police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Western Ave. in reference to a disturbance. In a separate report, Watkins was charged with harassment by telephone when police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Western Ave. to investigate a complaint of harassing telephone calls.
Update January 5, 2009: According to Park Forest Police Detective Paul Winfrey, Mr. Watkins accepted a guilty plea to criminal trespass and was sentenced to conditional discharge and community service. The other two charges were dismissed.
Residential Burglary
A resident in the 100 block of Forest discovered a burnt cigarette lying on the floor next to his bed. The resident does not smoke. Upon further examination of his residence, the resident noticed that some DVDs were missing, as well as an envelope containing $600 cash from a table. Reported on July 16.
Robert R. Miller, 27, 311 Sangamon St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 16 and charged with domestic battery when police were summoned to the PFPD to investigate a report of domestic problems.
A bicycle was reported stolen from the 100 block of Westwood Dr. on July 16.
Kitaka M. Johnson, 29, 14430 S. Wabash, Riverdale, was arrested on July 17 and charged with obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, driving without insurance, failure to wear a seatbelt, obstructed windshield and no break lights when an officer noticed the car he was driving allegedly had no working break lights. The vehicle was pulled over in the 300 block of Meota.
Roberto Linares, 29, 220 W. 15th St., Chicago Heights, was arrested on July 17 and charged with one felony count of aggravated driving under the influence, and given citations for exceeding posted speed limit, improper lane usage, illegal license plate cover, operation of uninsured motor vehicle, and driving on a revoked license when an officer on patrol driving northbound Indiana St. at Lincoln Highway observed the vehicle Roberto was driving traveling at a high rate of speed
A resident in the 200 block of Arcadia reported that a rock had been thrown at a window on the front of the residence on July 17. Police observed th 5’ x 2’ double pane window was broken.
Regina Hodges, 32, 11 Apache, Park Forest, was arrested on July 17 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were called to the 0 – 100 block of Apache to investigate criminal damage to property.
The passenger’s side rear door of a Saturn ION was reported damaged by a rock while parked in a parking lot in the 100 block of Algonquin on July 18.
On July 18, an officer was dispatched to the PFPD to investigate a report of theft. The complainant reported that, while at a party in the 0 – 100 block of Ash St., she had fallen asleep. When she woke up, she discovered her purse open and not where she had placed it, and was missing her wallet, state ID, and multiple credit cards, according to the report. She did not know who might have taken her property “due to a large number of subjects still at the house,” according to the report.
Gang graffiti was reported spray painted on the windows of a building in the 100 block of Hemlock on July 18. One window pane had paint in no regular pattern, according to the report, and the second pane had the letters “GD”.
A brown and gold 1987 GMC conversion van, IL registration 8630042, was reported stolen from the 100 block of Elm St. on July 18. The vehicle will be entered into LEADS.
Casey R. Paige, 19, last know address 479 Dogwood, Park Forest, was arrested on July 19 and charged with solicitation when customers at CVS began to complain to CVS management that Paige was allegedly standing outside of the business approaching customers soliciting for money.
