Police Report – March 5, 2007

Editor's Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports.  Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

 An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty.

We will always include some introductory comments before the first item.  While everything that follows is a matter of public record, we do not believe it is necessary to have names on page one.

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—

On February 14, three juveniles were arrested and charged with residential burglary for an incident that occurred on February 8, when police were called to the 500 block of Lakewood Blvd. to investigate a report of residential burglary.

On February 23, police were called to the 100 block of Ash St. to investigate a juvenile living in a vacant residence.  The juvenile was a runaway who reportedly had not eaten in two days, according to the report.  The juvenile was fed at the Park Forest Police Station and returned home.

Louis Clemmons III, 27, 3234 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on February 24 and charged with possession of cannabis and attempt obstructing a peace officer during a traffic stop on Western Ave. near Illinois St.  Clemmons additionally was issued traffic citations for failure to dim headlights, driving while license suspended, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

On February 24, police were called to the 200 block of Arcadia to investigate a report of domestic battery.  A juvenile was charged with domestic battery in the incident.

On February 24, police were called to the 300 block of Wayne St. to investigate a report of a juvenile runaway.  Police continue to investigate.

On February 25, police were called to the 200 block of Hickory St. to investigate a suspicious motor vehicle complaint.  The vehicle had been reported out of Harvey, IL.  Harvey police were to notify the owner that the vehicle was recovered, according to the report.

On February 25, police were called to the 300 block of Sheridan to investigate a motor vehicle theft complaint.  The vehicle, a blue/green 1992 Chevy Astro, was entered into LEADS as a stolen auto.

On February 25, police were called to the 100 block of Indiana St. to give advice in reference to suspected child abuse.  After an investigation, police advised that the victim should be taken to the hospital, and charges should be filed with the Chicago Police Department, as the alleged child abuse took place in Chicago.

Jeffrey I. Hope, 27, 1954 Concord, Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Indianwood in reference to a report of subjects smoking cannabis.

Keiyanna D. Jones, 21, 1208 Anvil Ct., University Park, IL, was arrested and charged with theft on February 26 when police were called to a business in the 400 block of Sauk Trail.  Jones allegedly took $212.00 worth of unpaid lottery tickets, according to the report.

Police were called to the 3300 block of Western on February 26 to investigate a report of criminal damage to property.  The bottom wooden panel of a door was reported damaged, kicked in.  Nothing appeared to be missing from the residence.  Police continue to investigate. 

James C. Shelvin, 17, 175 Indianwood, Park Forest, was arrested on February 26 and charged with aggravated battery when police were summoned to a school in the 300 block of Sauk Trail to investigate a report of battery.

On February 26, police were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department to investigate a delayed domestic battery incident.  The alleged victim was a child.  Police called the Child Abuse Hotline and continue to investigate and attempt to locate the alleged abuser.

Javon D. Goings, 18, 115 Lester Rd., Park Forest, was arrested on February 27 and charged with battery at Rich East High School, 300 Sauk Trail, when off-duty police officers were summoned to the Dean’s office regarding an incident that occurred in the school cafeteria.  At the same call, Ryan S. Moore, 17, 58 Indianwood, Park Forest, was arrested and charged with felony resisting arrest when he allegedly began “swinging his arms attempting to get loose from the Officers’ grasp,” according to the police report.  A Park Forest police officer injured his left arm during the arrest, suffering a loss of feeling and motion in his hand, according to the report.

Reginald S. Shirley, 17, 923 E. 83rd St., Chicago, IL, was arrested on February 27 and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer when police were called to a disturbance in the cafeteria of Rich East High School.  In the same report, Demetria C. O’Neal, 18, 107 Fir St., Park Forest, was arrested and charged with obstruction of a peace officer and a retail theft warrant from Matteson, IL.  A juvenile was also charged with aggravated battery to a school employee and resisting a peace officer in the incident.

Rance D. Harry, 31, 5 Illinois Ct., Park Forest, was arrested on February 27 and charged with violation of an order of protection when police were called to 0 to 100 block of N. Arbor Trail in reference to a violation of an order of protection.

On February 28, police responded to a business in the 300 block of Illinois to investigate a theft.  Items from a purse were reported missing, including $171, and some credit cards.  Police continue to investigate.

On February 28, police were called to a school in the 300 block of Oswego in reference to a student with a knife.  A juvenile was charged with unlawful weapons possession.  Police continue to investigate.

Willie W. Blasingame, Jr., 49, 138 Lester, Park Forest, was arrested on February 28 and charged with domestic battery when police were called to the 100 block of Lester to investigate a report of domestic battery.

On March 1, police were called to the 100 block of E. Sycamore Dr. to investigate a telephone threat.  No arrests were made.  Police continue to investigate.

Kenneth L. Thomas, 41, 20745 Alexander, Olympia Fields, was arrested on March 1 and charged with unlawful possession of a fictitious driver’s license, driving with a suspended license, speeding, and no insurance, when the vehicle he was driving was pulled over by police on Lincoln Highway.

Lawrence McCullough, 53, 289 Westwood Dr., Park Forest, was arrested on March 1 and charged with domestic battery when police were called to the 200 block of Westwood in reference to a domestic problem.

On March 1, police were called to the 400 block of Talala to investigate a domestic battery incident.  No arrests were made.  Police continue to investigate.
