Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is the policy of eNews Park Forest to not remove items in the public record from publication. If your name is listed in the police reports, we will only add information relevant to the final disposition of the case at hand, e.g. "Mr. Smith was subsequently acquitted," or "All charges against Mr. Smith were subsequently dropped." We will do so upon receiving and verifying proof of such disposition.
We will always include some introductory comments before the first item. While everything that follows is a matter of public record, we do not believe it is necessary to have names on page one.
An officer was summoned to the PFPD on September 14 to investigate a report of burglary to auto. The vehicle was parked in the 0 – 100 block of Towanda Court. Several items were taken including credit cards, two passports, a US Navy ID card, a driver’s license, and $8 cash. The vehicle had been left unlocked, according to the report.
Police investigated an attempted burglary in the 200 block of Dogwood St. on September 14. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to gain entry to a residence there, as evidenced by pry marks on doors, and a cracked plate glass window. Nothing was reported missing from the residence.
A book bag, a women’s brown leather hand bag, an ATM card, and a Texas Instruments calculator were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 0 – 100 block of Forest Wood Lane on September 14.
An officer responded to the PFPD on September 14 to investigate a violation of order or protection. There was a suspect, but no charges were pressed at this time.
Police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny St. on September 14 in reference to a domestic disturbance. A family member who does not live at the residence was discovered sleeping in an upstairs bedroom. The individual, listed as homeless, is being sought on the charge of criminal trespass to residence.
A black nylon briefcase, a personal data assistant, a dark grey notebook computer, an electric shaver, a credit card and a checkbook were reported stolen from an unlocked automobile parked in the 100 block of Shabbona on September 14.
An I-Pass, $450 worth of CDs, and approximately $15 in coins were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 200 block of Shabbona on September 14.
A juvenile was arrested and charged with battery when police responded to Forest Trail Middle School on September 14 to investigate a battery. Two students were allegedly involved in a fight, and one allegedly punched the other in the face.
All four tires of an automobile parked in the 100 block of E. Sycamore were reported punctured on September 15.
Deandre R. Wherry, 20, 104 E. 140? Crt., Riverdale, was arrested on September 15 and charged with possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol in the 100 block of Ash St. observed an occupied vehicle parked in that block without the engine running and the window vented. According to the report, officers were on active patrol in that area because of the abundance of vehicle burglaries that had occurred recently. Other officers responded to the scene. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers could smell a strong odor of burnt cannabis emanating from the interior of the vehicle, according to the report.
An officer was dispatched to the PFPD on September 15 in reference to an alleged violation of a court order giving a father visitation rights with his children. Police are investigating.
The passenger side lock of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Gentry was reported “punched” and the steering column peeled on September 16. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.
Police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Illinois Street on September 14 to investigate a domestic battery. There were no arrests, but there is a suspect in the case.
Mark D. Clanton, 41, 238 Arrowhead, Park Forest, was arrested on September 16 and charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Arrowhead to investigate a domestic disturbance.
A silver watch, a camera, and a black stereo system were reported stolen from a residence in the 0 – 100 block of Apache on September 16.
Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Sangamon on September 16 regarding a domestic disturbance in progress. There were no arrests.
A 2004 blue Jeep Cherokee, Illinois registration 805 8752, was reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Hemlock on September 17.
Both passenger side tires and the front driver’s side tire of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Indianwood Blvd. were reported flattened by a flat sharp object, possibly a knife, on September 17. In addition, the letters “AS” were engraved in the hood of the vehicle, and there was a long scratch, approximately two feet in length, on the passenger’s side front door. There is a suspect in this case.
Jovante R. Jones, 21, 374 Diane Lane, Chicago Heights, was arrested on September 17 and charged with criminal damage to property when police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny in reference to criminal damage to property that had just occurred there.
A juvenile was arrested on September 21 and charged with assault and criminal damage to property regarding an alleged incident on September 17, when the juvenile allegedly threw a landscape brick through the double pane window of a residence in the 100 block of Monee Rd.
Two windows of a residence in the 200 block of Arrowhead St. was reported open and the screen missing when the resident returned home after 9:40 p.m. on September 17. Police responded, and no offenders were located inside the residence. While several items appeared to be tampered with, nothing was reported missing.
Andre Green, 35, 11761 S. Lowe, Chicago, was arrested on September 18 and charged with criminal trespass to real property and battery when police responded to a residence in the 0 – 100 block of Arrowhead Ct. in reference to a neighbor dispute.
A tire on a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Sherman was reported punctured by an unknown object on September 18.
The left rear tire of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Gettysburg was reported punctured by an unknown object on September 18.
Two driver’s side tires of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Gettysburg were reported punctured by an unknown object on September 18.
A cash register was damaged and $2.00 cash were reported stolen from the U-Haul Rental, 2210 Western Ave., on September 18. The surveillance camera shows a male black subject go behind the counter and remove $2.00 in loose coins from an unsecured register and attempt to open another register.
The left door of the Tall Grass Arts Association, 367 Artist Walk, was shattered by a brick on September 19. The brick was found approximately ten feet inside the door. $15 cash was reported missing from a donation box. A volunteer said nothing else appeared to be missing
Delano Bowes, 23, 22067 Brooks, Richton Park, was arrested on September 19 and charged with speeding and driving while license suspended when a detective on patrol observed three subjects exit a residence in the 400 block of Winnebago and drive at a high rate of speed. Lester Ewing, 23, 430 Winnebago, Park Forest, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and charged with open alcohol-passenger, when police found an open pint bottle of Martell liquor under the seat where Ewing was sitting, according to the report.
Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Arrowhead to investigate a burglar alarm call. An officer observed that the double pane window located by the rear door on the west side o the building was shattered. Officers did not find anyone in the residence, nor were they able to determine if anything was taken. Police continue to investigate.
Three stones were thrown through the window of a residence in the 100 block of Sauk Trail on September 19. Police continue to investigate.
William D. Steins, 48, 69 Park, Park Forest, was arrested on September 20 and charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance. Detectives recognized Steins from a previous arrest, and observed Steins allegedly reach into his right front pocket and throw a green pack of cigars on the ground. A detective recovered the pack of cigars and observed a small Ziploc bag containing an off white rock like substance, suspect cocaine.
A mailbox post was reported broken in half and the mailbox found lying in the street in the 0 – 100 block of Braeburn on September 20 allegedly by a newspaper delivery person.
Donte Wells, 25, 3236 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on September 20 and charged with violation of court ordered curfew. Officers were called to that address to assist deputies for the Cook County Probation Department with the arrest. Wells was allegedly located outside the residence close to 11:00 p.m., and the court ordered curfew extended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Jason Haymon, 29, 4405 Michael John, Richton Park, was arrested on September 20 and charged with improper lane usage and issued an M-citation for possession of cannabis when officers on patrol traveling westbound on Sauk Trail observed the vehicle Haymon was driving allegedly cross the center lane of traffic, driving into the eastbound lanes of traffic.
A detached garage door in the 200 block of Arrowhead was reported pried on September 21. A lock was damaged, but nothing was reported missing.
John D. Williams, 38, 60 Apache, Park Forest, was arrested on September 21 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when police were called to a business in the 400 block of Sauk Trail in reference to an unwanted subject.
