Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Students who are unsure about their next step after high school graduation have several options at Prairie State College (PSC.) To learn more about the advantages of a PSC education, students and their parents are invited to attend Info Night.
Info Night is a one stop shop for students and parents to learn more about transfer degrees and majors, career programs, how to enroll, financial aid, scholarships, athletics, and student life. Faculty, staff, and administrators will be available to meet with students and parents one-on-one to answer questions about college.
Info Night will be held on Wednesday, June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Business and Community Education Center, located on PSC’s main campus, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. Info Night is an open house; parents and students can stop by anytime from 5 to 7 p.m. and stay until they get the information they need and their questions answered.
“This is a convenient way for parents and students to discover what Prairie State College has to offer and get their questions answered about college,” said Beth Wyack, enrollment advisor. “Students will leave Info Night will all the tools needed to start college in the fall.”
Those who can’t attend Info Night are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor; no appointment is necessary. Hours are Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information about Info Night, call Wyack at (708) 709-7776 or e-mail [email protected].
Classes for the fall 2009 semester begin August 24. Students who register now have until August 12 to pay in full or set up a payment plan; contact the college’s Business Office at (708) 709-3577 for more information.
New students must register in person until classes begin by visiting the Counseling and Academic Advising Center, Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Current students can register in person or online at prairiestate.edu. Print copies of the schedule are available on PSC’s main campus and at area public libraries. The schedule also can be viewed online at prairiestate.edu.
PSC offers associate’s degrees to prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities, and was the first college in Illinois to guarantee that its credits would transfer, an assurance that has grown through the Illinois Articulation Initiative.PSC also offers career programs in areas such as nursing, automotive technology, music production, and welding to provide real world training to expand beyond the classroom.
