Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Three Rich Township High Schools are currently under construction and renovations to combat population growth in the area.

Rich Central High School, 3600 West 203rd street in Olympia Fields will be adding an administrative wing to the building to the front of the building, said Ilandus Hampton, director of fiscal affairs for school district 227. The previous administrative wing will then be renovated into classrooms. Hampton said the restructuring of the administrative wing to the front of the building is being done by some schools to help with crisis management and security.

Additional construction will include repairs to the pond, new railings, renovating the court yard and upgrades to the baseball fields, Hampton said. Later in the construction process a new parking lot will be added.

Rich South High School, 5000 Saul Trail in Richton Park, will be receiving a new cafeteria. The previous cafeteria will be renovated into a computer lab and media center, and the old media center will be renovated into classrooms.

Both Rich Central and Rich South High School’s additions are expected to be completed by May 2008 and the renovations are expected to be completed by September 2008, Hampton said. Construction has been arranged to not affect summer school.

Rich East High School, 300 Saul Trail in Park Forest, will have a majority of internal construction including electrical and plumbing work.

“The need for the construction comes from the tremendous population growth,” Hampton said.

The constructions for the three schools will cost around $43 Million, which came from the selling of bonds Hampton said. The construction will have no increased cost to tax payers.
