Rotary of Park Forest Welcomes New Members

University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Local businesswomen Dr. Barbara Jack of Foster Care Institute – Illinois (www.fciillinois.org), Kelley Nichols of University Park Public Library District, and Maedell Stiffend of Chicago, and retired businessman Edward Pack formerly of ComEd, were recently inducted into the Park Forest Rotary Club. The induction was conducted by Dr. Jeremy Hayes, Public Relations Chair and presided by Michael Slevnik, District Governor.

“Dr. Jackson, Kelley, Maedell, and Edward will be tremendous assets to our club,” said James Settles, Sr., Rotary Club president. “As new members all four have already been active members. Supporting in our cell phone collection program, fundraising events, and the EarlyAct Club.” The EarlyAct Club is an Early Rotary Club operated at the elementary school level.

The Rotary Club, which is made up of professional and community leaders from Park Forest and the surrounding communities, is part of a worldwide organization that participates in a broad range of humanitarian, intercultural and educational activities designed to improve the human condition locally, nationally and globally. The Rotary Club was the first service club, originally started out of Chicago .

The club has donated dictionaries to third-grade students in School District 162 and 163, University Park Library District and Park Forest Library District, collected cell phones to benefit South Suburban Family Shelter, raised money for local charities and the Rich Township food pantry.

The service club also has worked with local elementary school students, EarlyAct Club, to package meals to be shipped overseas for Feeding Children Worldwide, an international nonprofit relief organization with headquarters in Mt. Prospect that delivers food, medicine and other necessities to children and families who lack these essentials.

The group meets every Thursday at 12:15 p.m. at University Golf Club, 23520 Crawford Ave, University Park, IL 60466 . Prospective members are welcome to attend.
