Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— According to Village officials, over 500 people turned out to the 21st Annual Safe Trick or Treat and Costume Contest in Downtown Park Forest on Wednesday, October 31st.  Parents and kids alike enjoyed plenty of candy, great company and great costumes that included the likes of Snow White, Darth Vader and numerous other imaginative characters.

The day’s events began at 3 p.m. at Eagle Movie Theatre, where over 100 area residents attended a free showing of the latest installment of Harry Potter. Admission was free.

“Eagle Theater has always welcomed the community with open arms, especially our children. To provide a safe atmosphere brings nothing but happiness and joy to us,” said Eagle Theater employee, Ryan Stack.

Bags began to fill at 5 p.m. when downtown businesses, village staff members and volunteers passed out more treats than tricks to the highest number of attendees the event has ever drawn, said Police Chief, Tom Fleming.

Even Chief Fleming was in costume. Fleming is the very last person featured in the eNews Park Forest Photo Store which features photographs by Wendy Heise from the evening’s festivities.

The Costume Competition was the highlight of the evening as kids danced to classic tunes and competed for best costume.
