Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Highlighted by a trio of women’s basketball players that have keyed back-to-back IHSA Elite Eight appearances, Marian Catholic had 10 student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to continue their careers in college on athletic scholarships.

Jamie Johnson (Lewis University), Simone Law (Loyola University) and Jasmine Matthews (Bowling Green University) have sparked Marian to consecutive IHSA Sectional titles. Law and Matthews have played on the varsity for three years, leading the Spartans to an overall record of 80-19.

The Marian softball program has also experienced tremendous success under the Class of 2011, including Briana Clark (University of Indianapolis), Rachel Glenn (Missouri Science and Technology), Rebecca Gray (Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville) and Shawna Sadler (Western Kentucky). That quartet has helped lead Marian to a 76-24 mark and an East Suburban Catholic Conference title in the last three years, while Gray has her name in several Marian record categories.

Meanwhile, Marian’s emerging women’s lacrosse program continues to produce athletes worthy of the next level. Standouts Alexis DiGiovanni and Barbara Jean Vega have committed to Augustana College, while Hannah Conway will move onto Adrian College.
