Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)- eNews Park Forest is pleased to continue again this school year with our series of stellar students from Rich East High School. Mr. Kevin Kredens, the school’s publicity liaison, provides each student a series of the same questions. All responses are in the students’ exact words, except for minor editing for content and space when needed.

We are pleased to feature Alexus Williams, a 14 year resident of Park Forest. She attended Rich East all four years of high school. She wishes to be a pediatrician some day.

Meet Alexus Williams:

Are you a Park Forest Resident? How long? At Rich East all four years?  I have been a Park Forest resident for 14 years and have attended Rich East all four years.

What do you like the most about Rich East? Is there anything you would have done differently? My favorite part of Rich East is the availability and commitment of our teachers. Whenever I had issues in class I had no problem scheduling a day that I could receive extra help and guidance. What I would like to see at Rich East in the future is perhaps offering more courses like CPR and so many others.

Activities/Athletics participated in?  Special awards? Hobbies? Community/church volunteering? I have participated in volleyball, basketball, track and field, National Honor Society and Mathletes. Special Awards: Maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or higher; Dean’s List from Classes at Prairie State College; athletic letters from volleyball and track and field; most outstanding student.

GPA/Class Rank. 3.6 GPA unweighted, 6th of 167.

Teacher{s} and/or coaches who have most inspired you: One of my coaches that most inspired me was Mr. (Don) Hagemaster. He was my volleyball coach for my first year as a varsity player and his motto was to never say never and “I can’t” was not a part of his dictionary, even when things got tough. So I look up to him whenever I feel like I can’t accomplish something I know is possible. I think these little phrases have brought me a long way through high school.

ACT and PSAE: I received a 24 on my ACT and I met in all areas of the PSAE.

College choice{s}? Major? I am looking at Ball State University or Iowa State University and I will major in Pre-med.

What music is replaying on your ipod or phone these days? I love gospel, R&B and hip-hop.

Favorite TV Shows/Books: Mystery and action. For example, “Pretty Little Liars,” “Avatar,” and SpongeBob.

Junk Foods? Coffee or Tea/Hot or cold? Healthy Foods? Pizza Mickey D’s, or Taco Bell? I love chocolate. My Favorite snacks are chips, juice or ice cream. Healthy foods include corn, broccoli, carrots and fruits. I also love pepperoni pizza from Beggars or Chicago Dough.

Places that you’d most like to visit? I want to visit Panama, Spain, Africa and Hawaii.

Where do you want to be in five years? In ten years? In five years I believe I would be finishing off college/medical school and looking for a pre-med internship. In 10 years, I hope to be a doctor and be a pediatrician.
