Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- All 46 of the 2012 graduates of Prairie State College’s Nursing program who took the licensing exam passed on the first attempt– a 100 percent pass rate. Graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in order to obtain a license to practice as a registered nurse.
“It is all about the faculty. The PSC nursing faculty invests themselves so completely in educating the nursing students. This dedication is demonstrated by this excellent achievement by our nursing students. This speaks volumes for the quality of PSC’s Nursing program,” said Marie Hansel, dean, health and industrial technology, and director of nursing. “Our nursing program has an excellent reputation with area health-care institutions.”
Graduates of all nursing programs, both two-year associate or four-year bachelor’s degree programs, must pass the same licensing exam to become registered nurses. Historically, associate degree graduates achieve scores equal to or higher than the bachelor’s track.
This is a remarkable achievement because the PSC nursing graduates surpassed both the national pass rate of 90 percent and the State of Illinois pass rate of 91 percent.
