Annual Psychology and Counseling Awards at GSU

University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Division of Psychology and Counseling at Governors State University recently awarded its highest honors to both students and faculty. 

Vilma Matthews of Hazel Crest was named the graduate psychology student of the year. Greg Severin of Lansing earned the undergraduate psychology student of the year award. Jessica Specht of Country Club Hills was named counseling student of the year. Dr. Shea Dunham, assistant professor and Counseling Lab Coordinator at GSU, was awarded 2010 Faculty of the Year Award.

Dr. Shannon Dermer, Chair of the Division of Psychology and Counseling, presented certificates to each of the honorees and the students were also awarded a gift card.

“These are given to students who have shown great dedication to their studies and to realizing their goals within the Counseling and Psychology degree programs,” said Dr. Dermer. “Dr. Dunham was recognized for her achievements as both an educator and her work coordinating the extensive services of the GSU Counseling Lab, which offers free counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. We are very proud of all this year’s honorees.”
