Chicago Southland Manufacturing Summit at GSU


University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Members of the Chicagoland business, industry, and entrepreneurship communities will have the opportunity to meet and discuss the issue and concerns of establishing, maintaining, and growing manufacturing in today’s economy at the Chicago Southland Manufacturing Summit on Friday, October 23, at The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University, in University Park.

The summit is begins at 8:30 a.m. with networking and breakfast. The program begins at 9 a.m. with welcoming remarks from Dr. Elaine Maimon, President of GSU; and Kimberly Porter, Director of Economic and Community Development for the Village of University Park.

The seminar includes speaker William A. Strauss, Senior Economist/Economic Advisor for the Federal Reserve of Chicago, who will provide an economic overview with highlights of the Midwest and Chicago Manufacturing index, employment trends, and outlook. Greg Baise, President of Illinois Manufacturing Association, will discuss how manufacturers can prepare themselves for the future in order to maintain a vibrant U.S. manufacturing sector.

Panelists include Mary Culler, Director of Government Affairs for Ford Motor Company; Gary Gardner, President of Namaste Laboratories; Patrick Ormsby, President of Bimba Manufacturing; and Dan Swinney, Executive Director of the Chicago Manufacturing Renaissance Council. Dr Ellen Foster Curtis, Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration will moderate the presentations and discussion.

The summit is hosted by the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation, Governors State University, and the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce.
