Bourbonnais, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Congresswoman Robin Kelly recently donated more than 60 books to Noel LeVasseur Elementary School from the Library of Congress Surplus Books Program. Kelly presented the books to a class of second graders who greeted her in the school’s library and thanked her for the donation.

The donation included fairy tales, folklore, biographies, poetry, and books on science, animals and dinosaurs.

“Seeing the excitement in the eyes of the children was so heartwarming” Rep. Kelly said. “It’s gratifying to know that the variety of books we donated will give students at LeVasseur an opportunity to explore many new worlds.”

This is Kelly’s fourth book donation since taking office 11 months ago. She previously donated books to Douglas Taylor Elementary School on Chicago’s South Side, Creative Communications Academy in Calumet City and Strassburg Elementary School in Sauk Village.

The Library of Congress routinely donates surplus books to schools and non-profits through Members of Congress. Rep. Kelly regularly contacts schools across the 2nd Congressional District to introduce the program. Interested schools receive age-appropriate books directly from the Library of Congress.
