Congresswoman Robin Kelly Nominates 24 High School Seniors to Military Academies


Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)—January 22, 2015. Congresswoman Robin Kelly today nominated 24 high school students from her district for admission to United States Military Academies.

“I am proud to nominate these outstanding young men and women for admission to some of America’s finest colleges,” Rep. Kelly said.  “I admire their commitment to serve and their willingness to someday lead our troops in protecting our country and making the world a safer place.”

Rep. Kelly nominated the following students for admission to the Class of 2019:

U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York: Kyle Czubak, Timothy McGill, Jason Poole and Natia Weathers of Chicago; Jelani Robinson of Hazel Crest, Hannah Sabey of Manteno, Adam Smith of Bradley, and Alexis West of University Park.

U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland: Joshua Vera, Kyle Czubak and Jason Poole of Chicago; Vincent Albanese of Chicago Heights, Aaron Clark of South Holland, Bailey Dixon of Crete, Jared Jubert of Matteson, Nicholas Kadich of Crete, Matthew Pleckham of Kankakee, and Colby Roundtree of Country Club Hills.

U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado: James Willis and Jason Poole of Chicago; Elijah Calloway of Matteson, Matthew Pleckham of Kankakee, and Alexis West of University Park.

U.S. Merchant Marines in Kings Point, New York: Jordyn Wasiel of Manteno.

Each academy will review the list of students nominated by the congresswoman and then select the finalists for admission. The academies have an extremely competitive application process and are ranked annually among the best colleges in America. Upon graduation, the cadets become officers in the military and typically serve five to eight years in the armed services.
