Durbin: University of Illinois to Receive Nearly $800,000 in Research Funding

WASHINGTON, DC–(ENEWSPF)–June 15, 2010.  U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced today that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, has awarded $799,200 in federal grant funding to the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois, to help fund the Illinois Height Modernization Program (ILHMP).

The funding will allow the ILHMP to continue developing data sharing agreements with governmental entities for Light and Detection Ranging data, provide on-line access to the data, and conduct project outreach. The University of Illinois has already received funding for the first two years of the project, today’s federal funds will be used to fund years two through six.
