CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–June 1, 2015.  The Christopher Art Gallery at Prairie State College is hosting “Expansive Visions: encaustic works by FUSEDChicago,” June 1 through July 9, in the gallery, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

An artists’ reception is scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 11, in the gallery.

Artists participating include Sue Cahill, Alicia Forestall-Boehm, Shelley Gilchrist, Carol Hamilton, Brad Hook, Katsy Johnson, Pat Lagger, Ahavani Mullen, Julie Ris, Kathy Blankley Roman, Mary Krebs Smyth, Michele Thrane, Karen Tichy, Kathleen Waterloo, and Donna Zarbin-Byrne.

“This exhibition intends to show the wide range of work that can be envisioned and created in encaustic,” said Beth Shadur, exhibit curator and gallery director. “Expansive Visions enables the Christopher Art Gallery to not only present a wide range of creativity by the exhibition’s participants, but also emphasizes the encaustic medium’s feeling of “expansion” by its ability to create deep imagined space and the illusion of color as a fluid and moving element in the work.

“We are pleased to show the profuse variety of works by FUSEDChicago, with its bounty of color, shape, form and idea.”

The Christopher Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Visits also can be made by appointment. For more information about the exhibit or to make an appointment for a visit, call (708) 709-3636.
