Free Seminar on Cloud Computing at Governors State University


University Park, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Governors State University is sponsoring an informative, free seminar, “High Performance Computing and Innovation Cluster Workshop,” on August 8, from 8 a.m. to noon, in the Hall of Honors. This workshop will provide an opportunity for representatives of small to medium businesses in the Chicago Southland to learn what cloud computing is and how it can benefit their businesses.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from experts in business, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies. Topics to be discussed include technology innovation, cloud computing, and cloud computing security.

Intel Directors Stephen Wheat, Senior Director High Performance Computing, and William Feiereisen, Senior Scientist and Corporate Strategist in High Performance Computing, will discuss the "missing middle," which refers to businesses that need high performance computing but encounter barriers in adopting it. Seth Jansen, Field Representative for Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-11) will also present.

The morning includes presentations on cyber security and an introduction to the Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Services Center at Governors State University. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A with the speakers and networking. Refreshments will be served.

The seminar is sponsored by Governors State University, the GSU College of Arts and Sciences, and Midwest Academic & Resilience Cloud Computing Consortium (MARC3).
