Governors State to Host Workshops for Educators on March 13

University Park, IL—(ENEWSPF)–February 27, 2014 – Governors State University’s College of Education and Metropolitan Institute for Leadership in Education are sponsoring two workshops for school and district office administrators and staff.

On Thursday, March 13 renowned speaker and educator Jennifer Abrams will present “Resilience, Emotional Intelligence, and Accountability,” from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., in GSU’s E-Lounge.

This program provides essential strategies and resources for meeting the challenges of working in schools and achieving academic and organizational outcomes. This workshop will assist leaders in developing interpersonal skills to better deal with the complex needs of their district, department or school, and help those they lead to do the same.

On Tuesday, April 8, Dr. Kathleen Hickey will present “Creating a Turnaround Culture to Close the Achievement and Opportunity Gaps” from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in GSU’s E-Lounge. This workshop will help school leaders understand how effective turnaround strategies can create and sustain a culture of high expectations.

Research shows that schools that make a difference in student learning are led by principals who make a significant and measurable contribution to student learning and the effectiveness of staff. Participants in this workshop will develop a turnaround plan that can be applied in their schools to create a culture of opportunity and effectively impact student achievement and opportunity gaps.

Space is limited. To register: http://mileprograms.eventbrite.com or call 708-534-4024. The workshop price is $20 per person, but teams of three or more from the same district can attend free.
