Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)- eNews Park Forest continues with our series of stellar students from Rich East High School. Mr. Kevin Kredens, the school’s publicity liaison, provides each student a series of the same questions. We are pleased to feature Jasmyne Woods-Richardson, a three-year resident of Park Forest who loves art, yearbook and history. Her favorite teacher is Mr. (Ted) Spaniak, English teacher.
Meet Jasmyne Woods-Richardson:
Are you a Park Forest Resident/How long? Yes. I have been a Park Forest resident for three years.
At Rich East all four years/If not, where else? No. I have been at Rich East since my sophomore year. From grade three through my freshman year of high school, I was home schooled by my mother.
What do you like the most about Rich East? Rich East is very entertaining and seeing how it was my first public school, it wasn’t as bad as I imagined.
Favorite classes and why? My favorite classes are art, yearbook and history. Art is my passion that I wish to apply a life’s work. Yearbook has become to be a fun, relaxing and interesting class. I have been able to learn much from all the materials and software we use.
Favorite teachers? Coaches? Why? My favorite teacher is Mr. (Ted) Spaniak, English teacher. He had a very positive impression on my life during my sophomore year of school. He was more than a teacher, he became a very good friend. I am able to come to him with my problems and even though I was not in his class my junior year. But in my senior year, I am taking his yearbook class as editor in chief and that great bond is kicked back up. My favorite coach is Mr. (Fred) Jacobeit. He is very cool and funny. He always makes gym (physical education) classes a little more interesting. It’s sad to see him go and retire because no one will be able to enjoy him as a teacher anymore. Also Ms. (Kathy) Gray my Theater/Drama Club director. She has helped me find my calling and passionate future on and off stage, for my future career of theater acting and directing. I endured her sassy, bossy attitude during my lead performance in “Raisin in the Sun,” my junior year, and proudly became vice-president because of that
GPA/Class Rank: My grade point average is 3.279 and my class rank is currently 36th/202.
ACT and/or SAT? 19 on ACT.
What are you listening to on your iPod these days? I’m not that picky on the genre of music I listen to.
What is the last book you have read? “Kindred,” by Octavia Butler.
Favorite TV Shows: I love to watch TV and have many favorite shows. I enjoy “So you think you can Dance!” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Places that you’d most like to visit: New Your City for the Broadway shows. And, Hawaii, the Bahamas and Australia.
Activities/Athletics/Clubs participated in? Special awards? Summer Flag Team, Drama Club, Yearbook and I have received Green Apple Awards.
Clubs, hobbies, community/church, special volunteering in community? Camera “girl” for community television shows (“Taking it to the next Level”); and for former live church service on-line; helping youth/staff in middle schools; church youth leader/helper.
College choice? Major? The Art Institute of Chicago. Areas of interest for study will be: Theater/Actor/Writer; Film Director/Actor/Writer.
Where do you want to be in five years? In ten years?In five years I want to be flowing with business and widely-known for one of my directing, acting or writer for film and/or Theater. In 10 years, also happily married with twin girls.
