Juke Box Musical Theater Debuts at The Center


University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University welcomes Emerald City Theatre of Chicago to present its annual summer theatre musical for kids. In conjunction with Park Districts from Crete, Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Oak Forest, and Matteson, The Center will host the workshop from June 21 through June 25 at Governors State University.

A few workshop slots are available and seats are now on sale for the performance, a show featuring 48 local kids performing hit numbers from shows such as “High School Musical,” “Grease,” and “Mama Mia.”

This is the tenth summer that The Center has worked with the local park districts to provide a fun-filled and educational week of theater for southland kids. Burt Dikelsky, Executive Director of The Center, says, “Over the past ten years we have worked with the best theater companies from the Chicago area for the summer program. We look forward to our first show with Emerald City Theatre to provide a great experience for our kids, their families, and patrons of the show.”

The only public performance of “Juke Box Musical Theatre” will be held at The Center on Friday, June 25, at 7 p.m. All seats are $10. The Center is located at Governors State University, 1 University Parkway, University Park, Illinois. Parking is free.
