Leading Roosevelt University Laker to Give Student Commencement Address

Amelia Enberg

CHICAGO–(ENEWSFP)–May 4, 2015.  Amelia Enberg, an Integrated Marketing Communications major and a left fielder with the Roosevelt Lakers softball team, will address fellow graduates during Roosevelt University’s May 9 Commencement ceremony.

A 2011 graduate of Reeths-Puffer High School in Muskegon, Enberg left friends and family in her native Muskegon to attend Roosevelt where she didn’t know anyone.  However, she quickly adapted to become a top honors student who has been extremely active at the University.

“I took a chance coming to Roosevelt, but found I was able to do so many different things,” said Enberg, who was selected as one of the University’s inaugural Four Freedoms Fellows. She also brought Relay to Life to the University, raising more than $10,000 for cancer victims and their families and volunteered with the University’s Jumpstart program, to name just a few of her many activities.

“”This is a real honor for me to be chosen as Student Commencement Speaker,” said Enberg, who will address fellow graduates at 10 a.m. on May 9 in Roosevelt’s Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. “I feel it’s a great way for me to finish my education at the University.”

Enberg was nominated to be Roosevelt’s Student Commencement Speaker by Amanda Scott, head coach of the Roosevelt Lakers softball team.

“Amelia is a unique and special person. She’s vibrant, she’s involved and she loves life. I couldn’t think of anyone more representative of what the college experience should be about – and I know she will give her fellow graduates a great send off into the next phase of their lives,” said Scott.

Enberg is expected to touch on the many different journeys that she and her fellow students take in order to reach their final destination and happy moment in which they walk across the Auditorium Theatre stage to accept their diplomas.

“Amelia comes to whatever she does with nothing less than 100 percent every day. She’s all in, all the time, and I don’t think we know how much we’re going to miss her,” said Scott.

Interested in brand marketing and brand strategy, Enberg will be working in the planning department at TRISECT agency in Chicago over the summer.
