Marian Catholic High School Marching Band Captures 34th Straight Illinois State Championship

Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Marian Catholic Band took home its 34th State Championship in their class on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, in Hancock Stadium at Illinois State University. The band has won the State title for the last five years. Marian Catholic won its 3A class in prelims and went on to finals where it finished in first place among the field of 45 bands.

The next big challenge the Marian Catholic Marching Band is preparing for is the Bands of America Grand Nationals on November 13-16, 2013. There will be 92 bands from across the United States in Indianapolis vying for a spot in the top 12 and a chance at the overall Championship.

Marian Catholic High School Band will also be performing at the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®. This is the second time the Marian Catholic Marching Band has been selected to perform in the Macy’s Parade. With the support of their school and community, the Marian Catholic Marching Band, which consists of 225 members, will march its way into Parade history.

The Marian Catholic Band program has a reputation as one of the most outstanding marching bands in the United States. Over the past 20 years the bands have earned hundreds of awards and honors. The Marian Catholic Band’s educational and leadership philosophies have been used as models for band programs in nearly every state of the union.
