Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)- Meet Rich East High School Stellar Student Joshua Goldfarb, a 16-year resident of Park Forest. Joshua has participated in Speech, the National Honor Society, the Rocket Team, Interact, and is a recipient of the American Legion Award. His favorite class is physics.

He currently ranks 4th in the Rich East class of 2013.

Mr. Goldfarb will major in nursing next year at Loyola University Chicago, the Lake Shore Campus.

Meet Joshua Goldfarb:

Are you a Park Forest Resident? How long? Yes, 16 years.

At Rich East all four years? Yes. I have been at Rich East for four years.

What do you like most about Rich East? The diversity and the different styles of opinions that my classmates give. It’s given me an opportunity to think about situations with varied insight.

Activities/Athletics/Clubs participated in?  Special awards? I have participated in Speech, National Honor Society, Rocket Team, Interact, American Legion Award.

GPA/Class Rank. My Grade Point Average is 3.902. My Class rank: 4th out of 213.

Favorite classes and why.  My favorite classes are: Physics; it’s made me understand my world in a scientific way; and, History and Thought/AP Literature, The debates are always interesting.

Favorite teachers and why.My favorite teachers are:  Ms. (Jennifer) Christiansen: I have a lot of respect for her. She is very open with her students; Mr. (Mark) Adamczyk. He manages to make physics funny. Somehow, we still understand it; Ms. (Stephanie) Tijerina: She basically taught me how to write analytically. I owe her for that!

ACT: I received a 29 on the ACT.

Areas met or exceeded on PSAE (Prairie State Achievement Exam): I met and exceeded in all areas of the PSAE.   

College choice? Major? I will be attending Loyola University Chicago-Lake Shore Campus. I will major in nursing.

What are you listening to on your iPod these days? I’m listening to Deodmau5, Kid Cudi, Say Anything.

What is the last book you have read? In class: “Heart of Darkness;” For pleasure: “The Hunger Games Series.”

Favorite TV Shows? My favorite TV shows are: “Breaking Bad,” Being Human,” and, “Storage Wars.”

Coffee or Tea, hot or cold? I drink coffee. French Vanilla Iced coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts.

Junk Foods? Pizza, Mickey D’s, Taco Bell? Other? Junk foods: Oreos, Cookies and cream and thin mints. I do keep healthy often. I love Subway and making wraps.

Places that you’d most like to visit? I would really like to visit Tibet. I am big into Buddhism and the customs surrounding it.

Clubs, hobbies? Mixed martial arts and running keeps me busy and fit. I enjoy yoga and swimming, too. I play video games when I’m not working with at the PFAC (Park Forest Aqua Center) when I have been a lifeguard for a long time.

Where do you want to be in five years? In ten years?  In five years, I want to have a master’s degree in nursing with a minor in chemistry; hopefully working with cancer patients like myself. In 10 years, I want to be working in the same career, but married or engaged and ready to make a down payment on my first house.
