Prairie State College Hosting ‘Get EMPOWERed’ Event for Professional Women on July 30

CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–July 9, 2015.  Prairie State College (PSC) welcomes community members to explore ways to determine their dreams, define their moments and discover their destiny during its July 30 event, “Get EMPOWERed.” This is a women’s focused educational event offering an engaging keynote presenter, choice of breakout sessions, and a networking opportunity. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Conference Center, located on the PSC main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

Offered in partnership with the Professional Women’s Network (PWN), the event will feature keynote speaker Lee Ann Piano of Fine Tuning for Success, who is a leadership development expert, executive coach and wellness advocate, and has experience facilitating more than 600 seminars, both nationally and internationally.

Additional breakout sessions will feature Kim Olver, a life, relationship and executive coach, author, and speaker; Felicia Houston, a licensed clinical professional counselor with Ingalls Behavioral Health; Karen O’Donnell of Homewood Stories; Dr. Kate Webster a speaker, trainer and coach with Breaking Thru Barriers; Lori Klinka, a speaker, trainer, and presentation skills coach; and Kat Van Dusen, an entrepreneur, leader, coach, mentor and speaker.

Piano is presenting “GO FOR IT,” which will focus on learning to develop a habit of visualizing dreams, setting goals, taking action, and refusing to give up. Participants will identify the importance of creating a clear mental picture of the life they truly want to live and recognize that hoping for success will not make them successful.

During the breakout sessions, Olver will present “The Power of Positive Relationships;” Houston will present “Work and Home Life Harmony;” O’Donnell will present “Follow the Path That is Coming to You;” Webster will present “Mindful Communication™ Beyond the ‘B’ Word in the Workplace;”  Klinka will present “SNAPSHOTS: Life One Frame at a Time;” and Van Dusen will present “Redirecting for Renewal.”

“On behalf of Prairie State College Corporate and Continuing Professional Education Department, we invite you to ‘Get EMPOWERed!’” said Kelly Lapetino, dean, corporate and continuing education at PSC, who helped organize the event.

“Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to achieving a better future for all.

“Your participation at this event demonstrates the importance of women supporting one another in a collective effort to educate and empower,” she added.

The cost to attend is $30 per person, and includes lunch. CEU also is available. For more information contact Michelle Guiliani at (708) 709-7957 or [email protected]. To register, visit prairiestate.edu/webadvisor and select Instant Enrollment.
