PSC Dental Hygiene Program is Granted Full Reaccreditation

Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The dental hygiene program at Prairie State College (PSC) has been granted the accreditation status of “approval without reporting requirements” by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

CODA is a specialized accrediting body of the American Dental Association, recognized by the United States Department of Education. The PSC program must be reaccredited every seven years. The next site visit for the program is scheduled for 2019.

“I am very proud of the faculty and students in the program for this accomplishment,” said Dr. Marie Hansel, dean, health and industrial technology and director of nursing at PSC. “It is because of them that PSC has such a strong, successful dental hygiene program.”

The dental hygiene program at PSC is an 82-credit hour Associate in Applied Science degree program that prepares graduates to provide services assisting patients in the prevention of oral diseases and maintenance of optimal oral health. Upon successful completion of the written Dental Hygiene National Board Examination and a regional clinical examination, the program graduate is eligible for Illinois licensure.
