Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Floats built by kindergarten through eighth grade students, parents and teachers; students dressed as book characters; a 1950s era school bus; an antique car; cheerleaders; and school band will be part of the Park Forest-Chicago Heights School District 163 Celebration of Learning Parade on Tuesday, October 4, at 9:45 a.m.

The parade will step off from Michelle Obama School of Technology and the Arts, 530 Lakewood, Park Forest. The parade is a unique way of kicking off the school year and involving the community members in their children’s education and activities. Each float will feature a District educational goal.

The students in the District’s Communication Media Arts class at Barack Obama School of Leadership and STEM, who produce a weekly podcast at their school, will broadcast from along the parade route and provide commentary. The parade will proceed east on Lakewood, south on Orchard Drive and east o Main Street. Residents are encouraged to line the parade route and show their support of District 163 students.

The parade will be preceded by a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. for the community to introduce Michelle Obama’s new addition, which features classrooms, commons area and gymnasium.
