WASHINGTON, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–January 26, 2010. U.S. Senator Roland W. Burris today announced that he has sponsored a Senate resolution to congratulate Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine for its 150 years of commitment to advancing science and improving health.
For decades, the Feinberg School has been at the forefront of the field of academic medicine, serving as one of the nation’s top research-intensive schools, and playing a significant role in the Northwestern University community. The Feinberg School is one of 11 colleges and schools at Northwestern University.
Most recently, the Feinberg School has partnered with the Heartland Alliance to provide emergency assistance in response to the tragic earthquake in Haiti that claimed as many as 200,000 lives and left over one million people homeless. Northwestern University is currently working with groups in Haiti to provide much-needed medical and humanitarian supplies, and is sending a Northwestern University clinicians to Haiti to assist in relief efforts.
“Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine has been leader in Illinois and has consistently been one of the top medical schools in the country. I am proud to introduce this Senate resolution to honor the school’s work,” said Senator Burris. “After 150 years, the Feinberg School continues to play a key role in education, research and clinical services, and I look forward to seeing the school grow and thrive for decades to come.”
The resolution, Senate Resolution 394, was introduced on the floor of the U.S. Senate on January 21st by Senator Burris, and has been sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee for further review.
