Several Prairie State College Students Win Awards During Skyway STEM Poster Competition

CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–May 7, 2015. Prairie State College (PSC) recently hosted the 2015 Skyway STEM Poster Competition. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Several PSC students won awards during the event. PSC Professor Erica Lannan (fourth from left) congratulates the PSC winners Nanyque Sirkis (third from left) of Matteson, who received first place out of eight contestants in chemistry; and (from left) David Nichol of Matteson, Celeste Garcia of Crete, Emmanuel Lopez of Glenwood, and Leanne Horvath of Crete, who received third place out of 11 contestants in biology. The annual competition is a poster contest designed for students in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference. Projects were evaluated on the student’s ability to use the process of science, as well as rational and logical thinking to answer a question related to a STEM discipline. Eight schools, including PSC, participated in this year’s competition.
