SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–(ENEWSPF)—November 17, 2017

South Suburban College (SSC) recently hosted a dedication ceremony for the new College History Wall and Display located in the atrium of the College’s Main Campus in South Holland. The display features photos and memorabilia from the college’s 90-year history. Before cutting the ribbon, College President Don Manning highlighted the role the college has played in the lives of so many students, and how students today share the same hope for the future as those who came before.

SSC was formerly known as Thornton Community College and Thornton Jr. College. In 1927, a small group of high school graduates gathered at Thornton Township High School on 151st Street in Harvey starting what is now a 90-year legacy of educational opportunity for residents of the south suburban region.

South Suburban College continues to grow to meet the cultural, technological and educational needs of its students. Over the past 90 years, thousands of people have received their education and gone on to improve their lives and their community. The public is invited to stop by Monday through Friday to view the display. Watch a video segment of the Dedication:
