South Suburban College’s BCI Partners with District 151 to Support Intersession Project

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–(ENEWSPF)–October 24, 2013.  The South Suburban College Business & Career Institute (BCI) recently partnered with School District 151 through their new Intercession Project, which is an all year school schedule with brief blocks of time off.  BCI provided support during the recent “intercession”–the two weeks between class sessions.

BCI offered an entire week of programming and activities for kids in grades six through eight, including setting up special classes such as cooking and dance, a Career Day with local athletes, and a tour of South Suburban College.  The participating kids were those whose parents work and have no other form of child care.

The professional athletes who attended Career Day are represented by Worldwide Career Management.  They visited the kids at Coolidge Middle School and spoke about the importance of education.  They included Fred Blue (San Diego Chargers), Trent Tornincasa (Lake County Basketball All-Stars), Eric Meyerchick (Arizona Diamondbacks) and Pete Dunbar (Team Albania Basketball).
