Top Five Reasons to Attend Prairie State College

CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—October 25, 2013. Spring registration is underway at Prairie State College (PSC). Here are the top five reasons you should consider registering for spring courses. Whether it is to start your degree, finish your degree, or obtain skills for a career, PSC has many educational offerings to get you started.

One: Highly Qualified, Full-time Faculty Members

PSC has a large number of highly qualified, full-time faculty members, with more than 90 percent of full-time faculty members having master’s or doctoral degrees. Our faculty members are student-focused and make student success their highest priority.

Two: Quality Education at an Affordable Tuition

PSC offers students a tremendous value when compared with four-year colleges and universities. We offer a quality education at an affordable tuition, making college aspirations a reality for everyone.

Three: Small Class Sizes and Special Educational Opportunities

Our small class sizes and special educational opportunities give students the tools they need to make the most out of their education from the very beginning.

Each semester PSC offers a variety of Learning Communities, combining two courses from different disciplines, giving students who enroll in them an opportunity to explore the connections between the two fields with the guidance of the two professors for the courses.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) students have some of the most demanding academic careers, but also some of the most rewarding professional careers.  Any student pursuing an Associate in Science degree at PSC is considered a STEM student. STEM@PSC is dedicated to student success by building a supportive learning community, beginning with first-year students and guiding them throughout degree completion and the transfer process.

The Honors Program is a series of courses designed to reward students who are high achievers. Each is a special section of a regular course, and provide students a rich educational experience in a creative and challenging atmosphere, with individualized attention from instructors. The courses feature such extras as small class size, field trips, and/or guest speakers.

Four: Credits Transfer Easily

PSC participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that allows transfer of the completed Illinois Transferable General Education Core Curriculum between participating institutions, so credits earned for our associate degrees are designed to transfer easily to public and private four year institutions in Illinois.

Five: PSC Has Something For Everyone

Whether you’re a high school student, an adult juggling family and work responsibilities, changing careers and needing to retrain, someone in need of English-language training, or a lifelong learner seeking a personal interest class, PSC has something for everyone. In addition to our credit courses, PSC offers a wide variety of non-credit courses, seminars, and workshops. It’s all part of our commitment to serve the community by providing educational, informational, cultural, and recreational activities that appeal to special interests. Students may learn vocational skills, enhance their personal growth, or explore vocational pursuits.

PSC offers students the best of both worlds: the small school advantage combined with affordable tuition. Our flexible scheduling options make it possible for anyone to fit college into their life. Our classes are small with excellent faculty and a supportive environment. Learn how to get started today by visiting prairiestate.edu or calling (708) 709-3500.
