CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–January 30, 2015.  Faculty and students from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in China will perform traditional Chinese music on Feb. 6 at Roosevelt University in Chicago.

A 19-member group from the conservatory will sing and play traditional Chinese instruments, including the zither, erhu and pipa, during a concert being held at 7:30 p.m. in Roosevelt’s seventh-floor Ganz Hall, 430 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.

“The Shenyang Conservatory is a leader in the teaching of traditional Chinese music, and this concert will introduce the music to our students and faculty as well as to members of the public,” said Henry Fogel, the dean of Roosevelt’s Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) who visited the Chinese music conservatory in 2014.  “I have heard these musicians perform in Shenyang, and they make wonderful and very beautiful music,” he said.

Sponsored by CCPA, the concert is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.roosevelt.edu/ccpa or call 312-341-2353.
