CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–December 17, 2014. Triton College and Roosevelt University signed a Dual Degree Program agreement on Dec. 15 that will streamline the process for graduates of Triton to earn a bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt.
Roosevelt President Chuck Middleton said that the agreement “provides a pathway for full-time students to earn in four years quality, accessible and affordable associate and bachelor’s degrees close to home.”
“We are appreciative to collaborate with Roosevelt University to provide our students with this great opportunity to further their education and expedite them to their goal quicker,” said Dr. Doug Olson, vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at Triton College. “We’ve partnered with Roosevelt University in the past, and I know we will continue to work together on exploring pathways for our students.”
The Dual Degree Program is open to all students who graduate with an associate degree from Triton. They will be guaranteed acceptance to Roosevelt and will transfer seamlessly to complete their bachelor’s degrees.
In addition to signing the Dual Degree Program agreement, Triton and Roosevelt signed three degree completion agreements for the Roosevelt Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. The agreements provide Triton students who complete any Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, or an Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting/Finance, or an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Management with a pathway to complete Roosevelt’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in a total of four years.
“Our business students will greatly benefit from the degree completion agreements; while the Dual Degree Program supports all students on campus across all curriculums,” said Dr. William Griffin, chair of Triton’s School of Business. “This is a watershed for Triton that is creating new opportunities for our students.”
Along with providing strong advising resources to help students stay on track to graduate in four years, the Dual Degree Program has substantial financial advantages. Students who start at Triton can save up to $40,000 on the cost of a bachelor’s degree. In addition, dual degree partnership students are eligible for Roosevelt’s Guaranteed Tuition Discount Plan as well as generous Presidential, Provost and Phi Theta Kappa scholarships.
“Advising is an important part of this agreement,” said Douglas Knerr, Roosevelt’s provost and executive vice president. “Roosevelt will provide DDP students with advisors who, in collaboration with their Triton counselors, will help students develop and follow four-year academic plans to ensure that none of their credits are lost when they transfer.”
Once students transfer to Roosevelt and select a major, their degree requirements will be locked in for three years.The best time for students to apply for the Dual Degree Program is during their second semester at Triton. Students must be attending Triton full-time and have completed no more than 30 credit hours to be eligible to apply for the program.
