Second Running of Park Forest Scenic 5 Set for Labor Day

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The second running of the “Park Forest Scenic 5 Mile Run is scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, September 7th at 8:00 am. The Scenic 5 was initiated in 2008 as a re-tooling of the well known Scenic 10 Mile race which had a 30 year run in Park Forest. Race Director Bud James and the team from Lakeshore Athletics will once again assure that the new Park Forest race will be technically as good as any in the country.

The Scenic 5 is run on a flat picturesque USTAF certified course which incorporates a pass by the 90 acre Central Park Wetland site, 1.5 miles of the secluded Old Plank Road Bike Trail and the home stretch through the curving streets of Park Forest. Numerous music groups will again dot the course and Park Forest residents will be out in crowds to encourage the runners with water and cheers.

The race will finish at the Park Forests Aqua Center the Village’s 4-pool complex (feel free to jump in) and Central Park. The finish area will feature the annual Food Fest, Entertainment, Awards Program and much more. The “5 mile and more…” will feature a number activities for the entire family. Bring the whole family for the “5 mile family bike ride”, a “5K walk around Central Park Wetlands”, “lap swimming at Park Forest Aqua Center” and much more.
