Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Freedom Hall announced the schedule for this summer’s Main Street Nights. The free performances in the Park Forest Downtown Village Green have become increasingly popular with village residents and visitors from surrounding towns. The shows boast, "the flavor of Ravinia in your back yard without the travel and expense."

Rain or shine, performances last approximately 45-60 minutes. In case of rain, performances will be moved to Freedom Hall’s intimate 330 seat Nathan Manilow Theatre, 410 Lakewood Boulevard. If the weather appears threatening, residents can call a recorded message at 283-5647 for changes or cancellations. For additional information, call the Recreation office at 748-2005.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25

7 pm Dave Rudolf’s Beach Party
Take a musical cruise with Dave Rudolf and the Coconuts featuring Dave’s original songs including selections from his new Beach Party cd. Dave’s concerts involve an abundance of audience participation including the limbo, hula hoops all set to tropical music

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2

7 pm Balsters
Be ready to be swept into a world of wonder with an awesome display of magic, illusion, audience participation and comedy, skillfully woven together with music, special effects and dance
7:45 pm Soul Cookin’
The perfect recipe combining rhythm and blues, jazz and Motown is served up by Soul Cookin’. Taste a sample of great soulful music including R&B classics of the 50s, Motown sounds of the 60s, the 70s disco era, and right into the 21st Century.

FRIDAY, JULY 4

Celebrate 4th of July at Central Park on Lakewood Boulevard. Round up the whole family and enjoy inflatables, facepainting, food (4 pm), parade(6 pm kick off near the Aqua Center, on Orchard) a free concert by one of Chicago’s premiere party bands, “The High Society Orchestra” (7 pm) and, of course, spectacular fireworks at dark!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 9

7 pm Jeanie B
Jeanie B combines irresistible rootsy rhythms with sometimes hilarious, sometimes poignant and sometimes educational lyrics. Jeanie B rocks the ages — all ages, in fact — with the most finger-snappin’, hand-clappin’, toe-tappin’ tunes this side of Sun Records.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 16

7 pm Cold Blooded Creatures
This is a unique program that entertains while educating the audience about Reptiles. See and touch 4 types of reptilians including the following: Blondi, a python snake; Big Al, a giant Aldabra Tortoise; Godzilla, a large Black Throat Monitor; and, Lucky, a North American alligator.

7:45 pm Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra
This 17-piece Chicago icon brings the jumping swing era of the 20s-40s to life. Presented as part of a live radio show with dancers, a vintage Chicago experience is reborn.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 23

7 pm Kpani Addy & Kolomashi
Experience the exciting rhythms and joyful beat of traditional drum and dance from Ghana, West Africa. Kpani Addy, a third generation master drummer is accompanied by his American dance troupe.

7:45 pm Waterhouse
Experience de cool runnings of Jamaican music with colorful costumes, exotic instruments, vibrant movements and wonderful stories. The musical styles of Nyahbingi, Mento Calypso, Reggae, Ska and Soca, the African and European traditions come to life.

National unicycle champ, Frank Birdsall, will entertain the whole family with juggling, stilt-walking, juggling, comedy and magic..

The Flat Cats’ blend of vintage and modern music including the hottest swing jazz, jump blues, steamy standards, modern classic and toe-tapping western swing is guaranteed to please!

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6

7 pm Car Show
Start out this fabulous night by viewing classic and antique cars on Main and Cunningham Streets.
7 pm HooperGirl
“HooperGirl is taking the ancient art of Hooping into the 21st century. Anna McHugh combines the art forms of theatre, dance, yoga, and storytelling with traditional, as well as glow and fire hoops. With her grace, technique, knowledge, humor, and energy, HooperGirl has the ability to enliven and electrify an audience!

Can’t make it to Disney World? Here is an opportunity to experience Disney through song, dance and plenty of interaction with the talented Radio Disney staff!
