Storms Delay Hundreds of Flights in Chicago


State College, PA-(ENEWSPF)- AccuWeather reports thunderstorms are rolling across the Midwest and may have the potential to be severe. Conditions are prime for tornadoes and dangerously large hail. Areas of flooding are being reported in Kentucky and thunderstorms hitting Chicago are causing flights to and from the city’s airports to be canceled.

10:37 a.m. CDT Wednesday: Half-inch hail reported in Johnson, Iowa.

9:46 a.m. CDT Wednesday: Over 200 flights delayed out of Chicago due to thunderstorms.

8:50 a.m. CDT Wednesday: Isonville Elementary School in Elliott, Ky., was evacuated as the flooded creek behind the school presented water threats.

8:45 a.m. CDT Wednesday: Quarter-inch hail lasted for 10 minutes in Clinton, Iowa.

7:20 a.m. CDT Wednesday: Dime-sized hail covered the ground in Vermilion, Ill.

6:18 a.m. CDT Wednesday: Minor roadway flooding reported in Kentucky between the towns of Millersburg and Paris.

4:15 a.m. CDT Wednesday: Hail, 0.75 of an inch in diameter, fell for about 5 minutes in Fillmore, Neb. It covered the ground about an inch deep.
