Tall Grass to Host ‘Winter Solstice’ Exhibit


Winter SolsticePark Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Tall Grass Arts Association Gallery will host an exhibit of its gallery artists entitled “Winter Solstice” from Friday, December 12, 2008 through Saturday, January 17, 2009. The opening reception is December 12, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Winter Solstice is defined as “a short moment when the sun stands still”. This longest and coldest darkness is a special time that is celebrated by many cultures around the world. It is a time to get together with friends and family to share warm good food and hot drinks. Some countries have parades with colorful costumes. Tall Grass Arts Association has chosen this time to combine the sharing of good food with friends and fellow artists. Participants are invited to wear costumes to add to the festivities.

Winter Solstice will showcase newly juried Tall Grass artists. They are: Juan Castillo, RexAnne Coad, Margaret Corsello, Robert Johnson, Elaine Martin, Patty McWilliams, Janice Miller, Steven Miller, Gary Thomas, Mary Ann Trzyna, and Leon Wade.

Other artists featured in the show include: CouSandra Armstrong, Adele Aronson, Marcia Babler, Richard Benoit, James Bowden, Terry Boykin, Harry Brown, Joan Bulf, Claudia Craemer, Pam Eberlin, Margi Hafer, Nikkole Huss, Pat Huss, Orgean Freeman, Margie Glass-Sala, Sylvia Koch, Joyce Leas, Selma Lisit, Elaine Martin, Chuck Michaels, Patricia Moore, Claudia McCarthy, Michelle Owens, Roger Paris, L. Randall Powles, Janice Pratt, Dorothy Sandlin, Charlotte Sasser, Margie Glass-Sala, Charlotte Sasser, Kathleen Schonauer, Tamara Tarasiewicz, LaDonna Trapp, Nance Tucker, Claire Wiest, Marikay Witlock and Faye Zalecki.

During the run of “Winter Solstice”, the Tall Grass Arts Association Gift shop is hosting its 9th Annual Holiday Sale. The gift shop features original works of art by Tall Grass artists priced to be affordable for holiday gift giving. The gift shop, under the management of Claudia and Deborah Craemer, offers jewelry, decorative boxes, photographs, paintings, prints, stained and blown glass, cards and much more.

A framed 18” print of the Snow Leopard painting by Roger Paris, which appeared on the exhibition postcard, will be raffled. Tickets for the raffle will be sold continuously during the exhibition. The winner will be drawn on the final evening of the exhibition: Saturday, January 17, 2009.

The Tall Grass Arts Association Gallery is located at 367 Artists Walk in downtown Park Forest, IL. It is adjacent to Village Hall.
