Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Park Forest Police announced Tuesday that Vaughn Studer, the son of Detective Sergeant Darin Studer, was accepted into the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

“Aside from announcing the birth of a baby, it’s a rare thing for us to share about one of our officer’s children,” the PFPD announced. “But there are the exceptions, and this is a big one.

“Vaughn Studer, the son of Detective Sergeant Darin Studer, was accepted into the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and began plebe summer, the training program for all incoming freshman, a few days ago.”

With an acceptance rate of only about 8.5%, the department reports, attending the US Naval Academy is quite the honor and opportunity. Vaughn follows his father in his military service, as Detective Sergeant Studer served in the US Marine Corps.

“Sergeant Studer reminds us, and Vaughn, that one can choose to receive a commission from the Marine Corps instead of the Navy upon graduation of the Naval Academy,” the department said in the statement.
