Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The Park Forest Village Board of Trustees held a Special Rules Committee Meeting last month with Officials from School District 163. The session convened at Forest Trail Middle School as the two boards came together in an effort to increase communication between both entities.

Superintendent Dr. Joyce Carmine highlighted the District’s goals and accomplishments for each of the six schools within the district in a PowerPoint presentation. Carmine reported that grant money and last year’s bond project allowed for various capital improvements and technology upgrades, including new computer labs for students.

Mayor John Ostenburg and Village Manager Tom Mick shared highlights with District 163 Officials regarding recent achievements and pending developments in the Village including the opening of the Village’s new water plant, the new home for the Park Forest Health Department, the successful progress of the Legacy Square residential development in Downtown Park Forest, and an update on the imminent sale of Norwood Square Shopping Center for redevelopment. The impetus for the meeting was the Village Board’s long standing goal of meeting with the elected bodies of other taxing jurisdictions in and around Park Forest . Over the course of 2006 and 2007, the Board of Trustees has met with the School Board for School District 162, the Rich Township Board of Trustees and Park Forest Library Board.
