Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be widening and resurfacing Western Ave from Illinois Street to Steger Road beginning April 1. According to Village officials, the project is set to begin. Drivers and pedestrians can expect disruption to traffic, including the complete closing of the road at the EJ&E railroad crossing for one week.
IDOT’s contraction K-5 construction will be reducing Western Ave from four lanes of traffic to two lanes of traffic effective April 1.
On Saturday, April 19, at 8:00 a.m. , the EJ&E will close Western Ave. at the tracks to make improvements to the railroad crossing. The EJ&E work is expected to take 7 days and the crossing should be open Saturday April 26.
