Chicago, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is renewing its request for assistance from the public in identifying the individual they have dubbed the “Bully Bandit,” who is believed to be responsible for a string of nine bank robberies in Chicago and Berwyn that began last November. He was given his nickname because of his pushy demeanor as he carries out his robberies, yelling at bank tellers and customers and pushing customers out of his way to get to teller windows to make his demand for money.

Cory B. Nelson, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the FBI, made the request today as he announced an increase in the reward that is being offered in the case. There is now an offer of up to $15,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the Bully Bandit, depicted in the following video clip from a surveillance camera in the vicinity of one of the banks he robbed.

The Bully Bandit’s latest robbery occurred on Friday of last week, when he struck the Chase Bank branch located at 3339 West Belmont in Chicago. Just as he did in the prior eight robberies he is believed to have carried out, the robber approached the teller window and announced the robbery by shouting at the teller as he demanded money. Although he has not displayed a weapon during any of his heists, witnesses at some of the robberies have reported that he kept one hand in a clothing pocket, implying that he had a concealed weapon.

The Bully Bandit is described as a Hispanic male in his late 20s to early 30s, with black hair and brown eyes and a mustache, 5’7” to 5’8” tall, with a medium build.

Anyone recognizing this individual or having any information about the robberies is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at (312) 421-6700. This case is being investigated by the FBI in coordination with local authorities.

Photographs of and additional information about this robber, including a list of all the robberies he is believed to have committed, are available from the Chicago Bandit Tracker website, www.bandittrackerchicago.com.
