June 15 Shooting on Berry Street Leaves Five Injured


Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Five people were injured by gunfire during a shooting in the 200 block of Berry Street on June 15.

According to a press release from the Park Forest Police Department, on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at approximately 1:00 AM, officers responded to multiple 911 calls of gunfire on the 200 block of Berry Street. Responding officers found evidence that a shooting had taken place at the residence, where a large party was being held, but found no one with injuries at that time.

While investigating the incident, it was learned that four victims who had fled the initial scene after being shot had been located after three went to the hospital to have their injuries treated and a fourth called from a nearby residence.

Two of those victims, both adult males, suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds, were treated at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, and released.

Two others were taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn for further treatment. One of those, an 18 year old male, received a gunshot wound to the chest. He was listed in critical but stable condition after he underwent surgery.

The second subject, who received a gunshot wound to his neck and arm, was treated and released.

Officials report that a fifth person had also been injured by the gunfire.

Park Forest Detectives, along with members of the South Suburban Major Crime Task Force, responded to the scene and are interviewing witnesses and victims.

No information is currently available on what motivated the shooting.

The investigation continues.
