Man Shot In Arm Seeks Friend’s Help

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- A man sought help from a friend after he was shot in the arm in Park Forest in the early evening of Friday, December 16.

Police were dispatched to the first block of Waverly Court on December 16 at 7:33 PM in response to a report of a reckless discharge of a firearm. While responding, officers were advised that a vehicle pulled into the area, gunshots were heard, and the vehicle fled the scene.

At Wildwood Drive and Wayne Street, officers saw a vehicle matching the description of the reported vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Police stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of Westwood Drive. While approaching the vehicle, the driver put his hands out of the car window and said that the passenger in the car had been shot and that he had his infant daughter in the car. The vehicle was cleared and no firearms were located. Police say the passenger appeared to have a wound in his upper-left shoulder and an ambulance was requested to the scene.

Police say the driver told them that while watching television with his daughter, he saw headlights in his driveway. When he looked outside, he saw his friend, who told him to call 911 because he had been shot. The man said he dialed 911 on his cell phone but it did not appear to go through so he hung up. His friend told him to take him to the hospital, so, placing his daughter in the vehicle, he began to drive to the hospital when they were stopped by police.

The victim was transported by paramedics of the Park Forest Fire Department to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.

Police continue to investigate.
