Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Editor’s Note: We are back with Park Forest police reports again. Forgive us for the lapse. Deputy Chief Paul Winfrey has been faithfully sending redacted reports every week, but we had some setbacks managing the website. We attempted to move the site to a new host, but the recommended new host was not capable of handling the traffic load of our site.
So, many, many hours gone there as we essentially learned that we are best served with our long-time host, Liquid Web, at around $200 per month.
We get more if we pay more, apparently.
We have more reports to process, as well as burglary reports, which arrive separately. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this exercise in sustainability, a paperless reporting project. Where, not all that long ago we reviewed stacks of reports, this reporting process is more streamlined, and we appreciate the efforts of the Park Forest Police Department as we move forward.
And there will be more soon.
Remember, an arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is the policy of eNews Park Forest to not remove items in the public record from publication. Crisshawenda J. James, 20, and Stephanie D. James, 37, both from 450 Niagara St., Park Forest, were arrested on October 11 and charged with criminal damage to property and assault after police were dispatched to the 400 block of Niagara Street in reference to a report of a criminal damage to a vehicle in progress. Both allegedly participated in breaking the rear window of a vehicle owned by someone who had come over to visit, according to police. The two also allegedly threw rocks at the vehicle, causing several small dents to the front and passenger side of the car, according to police.
Tawanna M. James, 34, 16919 Western Ave., Hazel Crest, was arrested on October 11 and charged with criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct when an officer in the Park Forest Police Department heard a commotion in the lobby. The officer, along with a second officer who was also at the station, entered the lobby and observed Tawanna James and a male subject lying on the ground in a physical altercation while family members attempted to separate them, according to police.
Tyrean D. Tyms, 18, 293 Beacon Blvd., Chicago Heights, was arrested on October 12 and charged with battery when police responded to Rich East High School in reference to a report of a battery. Tyms allegedly slapped the back of the head of an employee at the high school, according to the report.
Calvin Darnell Williams, 33, 922 E. Becker St., Hammond, IN, was arrested on October 13 and issued citations charging driving without headlights when required, expired registration, no proof of insurance, driving while license was suspended, and also issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis. An officer observed that the vehicle Williams was driving eastbound on Homan Avenue at Gettysburg Street had no headlights on when required, according to police.
Frederick E. Young Jr., 22, 18244 Locust St., Lansing, was arrested on October 13 and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis and a parking citation charging parking on the wrong side of the roadway when an officer patrolling in the 400 block of Winamac Street observed a vehicle parked on the wrong side of the roadway, according to police. The officer made contact with Young and, after initially speaking with him, observed a large cloud of smoke billowing out of the vehicle, according to police. The officer also detected a strong odor of cannabis emanating from inside the vehicle.
Jovon J. Davis, 22, 21 157th Street Unit 4, Calumet City, was arrested on October 14 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting a peace officer, and issued citations charging leaving the scene of an accident, and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. An officer responded to a report of an accident in the 400 block of Watseka Street. Upon arrival, the officer learned that the offending vehicle had allegedly fled the scene, according to police. Officers saw the vehicle drive west on Cedar Street from Central Park Avenue into Richton Park but were unable to locate the car. Several minutes later, officers were notified by CN Railroad that there was a white vehicle which had driven onto the railroad tracks and was stuck in the area where the offending vehicle had been lost. When officers arrived, they saw two subjects walking away from the area where the vehicle had driven onto the railroad tracks. One officer exited his patrol car and chased after a man, later identified as Jovon Davis, who ran across Central Park Avenue and into the backyard of a residence in the 21,800 block of Central Park Avenue where the officer ordered Davis to stop. After drawing his Taser and pointing it at Davis while warning him that he would be tased if he failed to stop, Davis was taken into custody in the backyard without further incident, according to police. Officers were unable to locate the passenger of the vehicle.
Jeraun A. McRae, 38, 7820 S. Indiana Ave. Apt. 2, Chicago, was arrested on October 14 and charged with obstructing identification and issued a local ordinance municipal citation charging solicitation without a permit when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Sycamore Drive in reference to a solicitor complaint. Officers were informed that two subjects were knocking on the complainant’s door, stating that they were with the electric company. Prior to arriving, officers were informed of to similar complaints that had come from the 100 block of North Arbor Trail, all three addresses within the Autumn Ridge Apartment complex. Upon locating the subjects, the officer explained that solicitation for business is not allowed in Park Forest without a license or permit and is not allowed within the Autumn Ridge complexes, a private solicitation-free property. McRae allegedly provided police with a false name and date of birth. When police were unable to confirm the name McRae gave them he then “reluctantly identified himself,” according to police. Due to the conflicting information given, the absence of a solicitation permit, or any authorized permission from the apartment complex, McRae was handcuffed and placed under arrest. The other man was given a verbal warning and released without charges, according to police.
Christopher J. Harris, 27, 316 Springfield St., Park Forest, was arrested on October 14 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Springfield Street regarding a report of a domestic disturbance.
