Park Forest Police Officers Shot At In Eastgate


Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Two Park Forest police officers were shot at on Allegheny Street in the Eastgate neighborhood on July 30. Police released the following information on the department’s Facebook page regarding the incident:

"On July 30, 2014 at approximately 11:00 P.M., Park Forest Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Allegheny St. for the report of shots being fired. Two plain clothes officers in the area responded and upon exiting their vehicle observed two male subjects who immediately began firing multiple shots at the officers. One of the officers returned fire and the suspects fled on foot. The officers pursued the suspects on foot but were not able to apprehend them at that time. Neither of the officers or any bystanders were struck in the exchange of gunfire.

"The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit was requested to process the scene, and the Park Forest Police Department is actively looking for two persons of interest, who remain at large. The investigation continues."
