Park Forest Police Reports for August 9, 2010

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is the policy of eNews Park Forest to not remove items in the public record from publication. If your name is listed in the police reports, we will only add information relevant to the final disposition of the case at hand, e.g. "Mr. Smith was subsequently acquitted," "Mr. Smith entered a guilty plea," or "All charges against Mr. Smith were subsequently dropped." Michael A. Smith, 47, 3133 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on July 30 and charged with domestic battery and violation of an order of protection when police were dispatched to the 3100 block of Western Avenue to investigate a report of domestic battery. According to police, Smith had been drinking and allegedly choked a family member.

Daven L. Williams, 18, 420 N. Orchard Dr., Park Forest; Tevin C. Williams, 18, 3639 W 213th St., Matteson; Roger G. Hardy, Jr., 18, 22411 Butterfield Rd., Richton Park; Jasmine A. Cruz, 18, 414 Watseka St., Park Forest; and Erica M. Arenas, 18, 4247 Arlington Dr., Richton Park, were arrested on August 1 and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass to property when police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Farragut Street to investigate a report of four or five male and female subjects entering a vacant residence. The individuals were discovered by police sitting in a vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence.

An Xbox game system valued at $300, two game controllers for the Xbox valued at $40, a PlayStation 2 game system valued at $200, and two game controllers for the PlayStation 2 system valued at $40, were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Niagara Street on August 1.

Salvador Sanchez, 22, 201 23rd St., Chicago Heights, was arrested on August 1 and charged with a felony count of forgery, no valid driver’s license, and no rear registration when a detective on patrol in the area of 26th Street and Allegheny Street observed a vehicle traveling east on 26th Street with no rear registration plate light, according to police. Sanchez allegedly had in his possession a fake Social Security card which he said he had purchased at a mall in Chicago two years ago.

The rear driver’s side tire of a van parked in the 300 block of Oswego Street was reported slashed on August.

A black 46-inch flat-screen LCD Westinghouse television valued at $900, a PlayStation three game system valued at $500, a 32-inch flat-screen Samsung television valued at $300, a Dell desktop computer valued at $1000 and a 32-inch flat-screen Samsung television valued at $300 were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Todd street on August 2. Police arrested a juvenile on August 3 in connection with this case and charged the juvenile with residential burglary on this incident and a burglary in the 400 block of Nokomis Street for which the juvenile admitted involvement. Police have more suspect information and continue to investigate.

A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the first block of Fir Street on August 3.

Alexander J. Rhodes, 32, 3412 W 218th St., Matteson, was arrested on August 3 and charged with domestic-related assault when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Hay Street in reference to a complaint of a fire. SouthCom Dispatch advised police that a male had allegedly set a fire inside a bedroom and locked himself in that bedroom, according to police.

One of a group of juveniles allegedly threw a landscaping rock through the living room window of a residence in the 300 block of Indianwood Boulevard on August 3 when a resident at the address asked the juveniles to not play in her front yard.

A refrigerator valued at $450, a gas oven range valued at $350, a Craftsman miter saw valued at $200, 20 feet of copper pipes valued at $100, and two garbage cans valued at $20 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on August 4.

A window of a kitchen door of a residence in the first block of Choate Road was reported shattered on August 4.

A 42-inch Sony flat-screen television valued at $600 was reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Wilshire Street on August 5.

A bedroom window of a residence in the 400 block of Shabbona Drive was reported shattered by a large rock shortly after 2:30 a.m. on August 5. A resident was asleep in the bedroom at the time.

Jennifer D. Lenburg, 33, and Jonathan N. Gonzalez, 21, both of 23 Indianwood Blvd., Park Forest, were arrested on August 6 and charged with possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol observed suspicious activity at a business in the 400 block of Sauk Trail, an area police say is a known location for narcotic activity. Police say they observed a male subject leaning into a green-colored vehicle and then placed his hand into his pocket. The vehicle then pulled onto Blackhawk Drive and stopped at the light at Sauk Trail. The officer observed that the vehicle had no front license plate, according to police. Lenburg, the driver, was also issued citations charging no front registration plate and improper backing.
