Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Clark S. Herkes, 54, and Debra M. Herkes, 46, both of 754 Lincoln St., Marseilles, IL, was arrested on January 14 and charged with retail theft when police were dispatched to a business in the first block of South Orchard Drive to investigate a report of retail theft. Clark was also processed on an outstanding warrant.

In a gift box containing a brown wallet, an Xbox 360 game system valued at $360, two neck chains with charms, a silver ring valued at $55, a PSP game system with a Grande Theft Auto game inside valued at $239, a pink Nintendo DS game system valued at $149, and a suitcase containing 10 different brand-name purses valued at $600 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Kentucky Street on January 20.

Latanya T. Abdul-Jaleel, 41, 750 Charismatic Dr., Oswego, IL, was arrested on January 21 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Arbor Trail to investigate a report of a domestic battery that allegedly occurred in the parking lot.

Jonathan I. Rolling, 22, 426 Niagara St., Park Forest, was arrested on January 22 and was charged with criminal trespass to residence when police were dispatched to the first block of Somonauk Court to investigate a report of a disturbance.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Winnebago Street on January 22 just before 6:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a disturbance. There were no arrests.

Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Indianwood Boulevard on January 22 just after 12:30 p.m. to investigate a report of domestic battery. There were no arrests.

An officer was dispatched to Park Forest Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive, on January 24 at 12:13 p.m. to speak with a resident regarding a report of telephone harassment that was domestic-related. Police continue to investigate.

An officer was dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on January 24 to investigate a report of identity theft. A resident reported receiving a phone call from U-Haul Recovery asking when she was going to return the U-Haul truck she had rented. An officer investigated and discovered that a woman identifying herself as that resident rented a U-Haul truck in Hammond, Indiana, and had not returned it. The manager of the facility said that he handled the transaction but did not photocopy the license or debit card of the person who rented the truck.

Justin E. Atkins, 30, and Latricia L. Knox, 27, both of 10 Sangamon Ct., Park Forest, were arrested on January 25 when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a report of a 911 hang-up call. Atkins was charged with violation of an order of protection. Police learned that Knox had a valid bond forfeiture warrant alleging that she failed to appear in court in reference to a traffic citation. She was arrested and processed on a warrant.

Michael D. Green, 28, 281 W. 15th St., Chicago Heights, was arrested on January 25 and charged with possession of cannabis and obstructed windshield when an officer on patrol in the area of 26th Street and Allegheny Street observed a vehicle heading south on Allegheny Street with multiple items hanging from the rearview mirror obstructing the windshield, according to police.

Police were dispatched to Park Forest Academy, 375 Oswego Street, on January 26 to investigate a report of a stolen purse.

Mark A. Higgins, 22, 5018 14th Ave., Kenosha, WI, was arrested on January 26 and charged with driving while license was suspended when an officer on patrol in the area of Westwood Drive and North Orchard Drive observed a vehicle. A LEADS inquiry conducted on the registration revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. When the officer stopped the vehicle, he discovered that Higgins, who was not the registered owner of the vehicle, also had a suspended driver’s license of Indiana. A passenger in the vehicle, Elliott A. Allen, 31, 209 W. 118th St., Chicago, was also arrested and was issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis.

Police were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on January 28 to investigate a report of identity theft. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had stolen her debit card and withdrew $300 from First Midwest Bank in Park Forest. Police continue to investigate.
