Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is the policy of eNews Park Forest to not remove items in the public record from publication. If your name is listed in the police reports, we will only add information relevant to the final disposition of the case at hand, e.g. "Mr. Smith was subsequently acquitted," "Mr. Smith entered a guilty plea," or "All charges against Mr. Smith were subsequently dropped." Jonathan G. Sykes, 21, 205 Krotiak St., Park Forest, was arrested on June 26 and charged with battery and resisting a peace officer when police were dispatched to C-2 to investigate a report of a disturbance.

Jessica A. Rivas, 20, 50 37th St., Steger, was arrested on June 27 and charged with possession of cannabis when a vehicle in which she was a passenger was stopped in the 100 block of Peach Street because the driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police. The driver, Daniel Davis, 21, 361 Winnebago St., Park Forest, was arrested and charged with no valid driver’s license, no insurance, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Police say a man in the 200 block of Allegheny Street discovered an unknown man inside his vehicle on June 28. When the man went outside to see who was in his car, the man in the vehicle got out and fled on foot. Police say nothing was missing from the vehicle.

A Sprint 3G air card, a Tom-Tom GPS, and a Motorola Verizon Xyboard tablet computer were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Lakewood Boulevard on June 28.

Police say a man told them on June 28 that his car was hijacked by an armed man when he was parked in the 200 block of Arcadia Street. Later that day, the Park Forest Fire Department responded to a path behind a residence in the first block of Apache Street and observed the vehicle engulfed in flames. Police are investigating.

Brandon Foy, 20, 18621 May St., Homewood, was arrested on June 29 and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia when a vehicle in which he was a passenger was observed parked in the rear of Norwood Square Plaza, behind some vacant stores.

Police recovered a laptop computer that had been reported stolen from a residential burglary that occurred on February 1, 2012, from a juvenile who was with two other juveniles on the west side of Blackhawk School at 10:54 PM on July 1. An officer approached the subjects in order to conduct a field interview with them. The suspected juvenile was processed on a charge of possession of cannabis and possession of stolen property.

Ertha S. Allen, 45, 523 Greenbay Ave., Calumet City was arrested on July 2 and charged with one felony count of retail theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obstructing identification, and possession of drug paraphernalia when police were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of South Orchard Drive to investigate a report of retail theft.

A sign at the corner of Dogwood Street and Cromwell Road was reported vandalized (kicked out of the ground) on July 2.

Blanche E. Payne-Hall, 54, 113 Elm St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 2 and issued a municipal citation charging disorderly conduct when an officer was dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department to investigate a report of a neighbor dispute.

A resident reported damage to the top of his convertible vehicle on July 3. Police observed three horizontal cuts in the top of the convertible that appeared to be made by a knife or possibly a razor blade. Police are investigating.

A window on the Northeast side of a mobile unit at Blackhawk School was reported shattered on July 3.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Merrimac Street on July 3 to investigate a report of attempted burglary to automobiles. A resident told police that he heard his car alarm sounding, went outside and found that the vehicle was secure. He then observed his security cameras, and saw an unknown male approach vehicles parked in several driveways, pulling on door handles. When the subject pulled the handle of the complainants vehicle, the alarm sounded and the individual ran away.

A resident told police on July 3 that he lost his debit card. Subsequently, activity on his account included a deposit in the amount of $1853.63 that was returned due to lack of funds and two withdrawals totaling $600. Police are investigating.

A small Brown wooden drawer from a jewelry box was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of South Orchard Drive on July 3.

Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Navajo Street on July 4 to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. Police say a resident showed them an exterior window screen that was damaged and a wooden fence in the backyard had a large opening, with several panels lying on the ground.

Alex Garcia, 19, 433 Navajo St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 4 and charged with domestic battery, resisting arrest, and criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Navajo Street to investigate a report of a disturbance.

The rear window of a vehicle parked in the first block of South Arbor Trails was reported shattered on July 4.

Police say a resident told them on June 29 that she lost her debit card while on a Pace Bus traveling from the Chicago Heights bus terminal to Park Forest. After checking with her bank, she discovered two large deposits in excess of $1700 each and $3380.49 which had been withdrawn from the account. Police are investigating.

A resident told police on July 5 that she discovered activity on a debit card from businesses in the state of California. She has no explanation for how the charges were made, nor did she authorize the charges, according to police. The charges amounted to a little over $200.

A light blue Schwinn cruiser-style bicycle valued at $200 was reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Gibson Road on July 6.

Tara L. Johnson, 34, 266 Allegheny St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 6 and issued a municipal citation charging battery when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Arrowhead Street to investigate a report of a disturbance.

James A. Stephens, 59, 23441 S. Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on July 6 and charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance when police were dispatched to the 23400 block of South Western Avenue to check on the well-being of the subject who reportedly was walking around in a strange manner in the parking lot, according to police. According to a witness, the man appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.
